Story Behind the Commission

“ This piece was inspired by my client’s photography and his beautiful capture of this wild wolf while visiting Jasper. We agreed that the dimensions of the piece should be elongated on the horizontal plane to capture a sense of movement. In addition, the intentional focus on the foreground, with a blurred background, further pushes the sense of movement, power and grace in the wolf.”

Artistic Intent

Wild in Jasper captures the essence and spirit of a wolf photographed in its natural habitat in Jasper. Ryan used detailed brushstrokes to emphasize the rich textures of the wolf’s fur, bringing its vitality and movement to life. The earthy greens and blended background harmonize the wolf and its environment, underscoring its bond with nature.
The wolf is depicted mid-motion, its fur seemingly rippling with energy, as if frozen in a fleeting moment of wild beauty. The careful layering of tones and shadows enhances the wolf’s lifelike quality, allowing its strength and grace to leap off the canvas. The wolf’s expression, with its open mouth and alert gaze, reflects its strength, intelligence, and keen awareness. This piece celebrates the wolf’s beauty, power, and majesty, offering a glimpse into the wild’s untamed grace.
