Ryan generously donated two of his beautifully painted Dragon Boat paddles to Sistership Dragon Boat association for our silent auction fundraiser held at the Calgary Dragon Boat Festival August 9-11, 2024. He captured the spirit of our members after a diagnosis of breast cancer of a dragon emerging from a river with a rose in the forefront representing our spirit paddlers. I commissioned Ryan for a custom painting mimicking a generic-print painting I bought online. I liked the style of the generic painting, but everyone would say “I have the same one at home”, so I decided to commission a local artist to paint something similar that would be completely original and include some elements I wanted, which was a pondering monkey in headphones.
